My dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
The First Session of the XXXIII Synod of the Syro-Malabar Church was held at the Major Archiepiscopal Curia at Mount St. ’l’homas from 6 to 1 I January 2025. Entering the Jubilee Year ot’the Incarnation of our Lord Jesus Christ as ‘Pilgrims of Hope, we are reminded of St. Paul’s words: “Hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us” (Rom. 5:5). These words illuminate the essence of Christian hope, even in the face of troubling news that may challenge or dishearten us. We are called to move forward with hope, anticipating the coming of our Lord. Pope Francis affirms, “it is our life of faith that prepares us for this hope-filled life. It bettins with baptism, grows through openness to divine grace, and is made alive in tire hope that is continuously renewed and strengthened through the workint;s of the Holy Spirit.” During this Jubilee Year, let us commit ourselves to actions that inspire and instill hope.
